Thursday, 28 December 2017

The France government will stay beside Bangladesh to resolve the Rohingya crisis, said Buon Tan, head of a visiting delegation of French Parliament, reports BSS.
He came up with the remarks during his meet with Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office in the city on Wednesday.
Buon also lauded Bangladesh's role on displaced Rohingya people who fled into Bangladesh being the worst victims of military atrocities at Rakhine state in Myanmar.
Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit to France and meeting with French President, the visiting French parliamentarian hoped that ties between the two countries will reach a new height in the days to come.
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed her gratitude to the French government and other international communities for helping Bangladesh on Rohingya issue and further urged them to play an active role to ensure safe and sustainable repatriation of the displaced Rohingyas.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has opened a new door of humanity by giving shelter to the displaced Rohingyas," the speaker said
The issue, she said, could be settled through implementation of the five-point proposal earlier forwarded by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the United Nations General Assembly.
Recalling the appreciations came from international community for the steps taken by Bangladesh to this end, the Speaker said Myanmar should come forward to resolve the crisis.
The delegation informed the Speaker that they would visit Cox's Bazar Rohingya camps to witness their plights and also distribute health and sanitation materials among them.
During the meeting, issues related to mutual interests also came up for the
discussion.
