Free ear surgeries done in RMCH with govt support

RAJSHAHI, May 07: Doctors in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) have been successfully providing treatment to the patients with complicated ear disorders, including eardrum damage and middle ear infection, through minor surgeries for the past five years at government spending.
This was disclosed at the Live Otology Workshop at the hospital on Sunday.
After the live otology workshop kicked off at 11:00 am, a live surgery was screened online from the operation theatre of the hospital.
The workshop was told that there were six types of tympanoplasty surgery, depending on the eardrum problems. As a result of this operation, hearing power of the ear improves.
Prof Mahabubur Rahman Khan Badsha at the Department of Medicine of RMCH was the chief guest at the first session of the otology workshop with Head of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat and Associate Professor of RMCH Dr Md Asadur Rahman in the chair.
RMCH Deputy Director Gautam Kumar Pal and Rajshahi Medical College Vice Principal Prof Dr M Habibullah Sarker were present as special guests.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Society of Otolaryngology and Neck Surgeons presented keynote papers and performed live operations
Associate Professor of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, RMCH, Dr Subrata Ghosh gave the welcome address while Assistant Professor Milan Kumar Chowdhury of the department conducted the programme.
At the end of the first session of the workshop, live surgery was conducted by the doctors of the Department of Nose, Ear and Throat.
