Free electricity!

A photograph published on May 16 in a local English daily says it all. The hanging plug-in switch boards are there freely available (or is there a hire charge for plugging-in?) It supplies all the electricity you may need! Splendid power supply source indeed! It can be seen by all passers by; like it was seen by an inquisitive photographer! It is however not visible to the DESA people. For them it wears a 'mantle of invisibility.' They see no evil; hence they do no evil! Even if they see, the 'high-tech device' it is beyond their comprehension! After all there is 'System Loss' to cover all such eventualities; so why at all bother about it? Or may be there is some financial return for 'this cloak of invisibility,' which some DESA people surely wear! Someone somewhere, somehow, have heavier pockets; thanks to this interesting innovation of free availability of electric power! May be you pay something, but it is really cheap, un-metered power available, hanging near your sales stall on the pavement, so very popular to small vendors! S A Mansoor Dhaka
