Free flow of info for transparency in govt purchase stressed

Free flow of information is very vital for ensuring transparency in any government activity, particularly in public procurement.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bhola Md Mesbahul Islam said this while inaugurating a day-long workshop as the chief guest titled "Future Search Conference" on public procurement at Bhola Monday, said a press release.
Organised by the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of the Ministry of Planning the workshop was facilitated by the Bangladesh Centre for Communication Programmes (BCCP).
Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain, Mayor of Bhola Municipality Md Muniruzzaman, CPTU Director Md Aziz Taher Khan, Communication Consultant Md Shafiul Alam spoke as the special guests at the workshop.
Such advocacy workshops are being held under PPRP-2 supported by the World Bank and being implemented by the CPTU.
So far 31 workshops have been organised in 31 districts. The rest will be held in all districts in phases.
Representatives of the local administration, procuring entities, bidding community, media and civil society attended the workshop.
