Free Jessore Day observed

Jessore, Dec 7: Elaborate programmes were chalked out in the district town to mark the Free Jessore Day on Monday.
Jessore district administration and Jessore district unit command freedom fighters council jointly brought out a victory procession in the town in the afternoon Monday.
6th December is a red letter day for the people of Jessore as well as the people of the country. The freedom fighter freed Jessore after chasing out the Pakistani occupants on December 6 in 1971.
The Pakistan army fled Jessore cantonment on this day with their bag and baaggages.
On March 3, 1971, the freedom fighters hoisted national flag of Bangladesh and took oath to oust the Pakistani occupants from our land of in front Jessore Collectorate. The freedom fighters then brought out a procession in the town on which the occupants fired gun shots. On December 5 and 6 the freedom fighters attacked the occupation forces at Jessore Cantonment. The forces fleed the cantonment. The people of Jessore breathed in the open air for the first time on the day.
