Free media and objectivity

Wednesday, 30 December 2009

OUR Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sought cooperation of the media in ensuring uninterrupted functioning of the hard-earned democracy in the country which, as she rightly noted, is sine qua non for protecting people's rights and interests. She made the call when a delegation of Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) met her at her official residence last Sunday.
The Prime Minister urged the media owners to highlight properly various successes and achievements of the government before the people and not to publish 'untrue' news.
In fact, we always expect the media to be impartial in telecasting/publishing news. Freedom of expression is also vital needed for proper functioning of free media.
