Freedom fighter hacked dead

Some miscreants chopped a freedom fighter to death and injured another person at Ayapur village at Patnitala Upazila in Naogaon district early Wednesday. The dead is Nazim Uddin, 65, a valiant freedom fighter and son of late Mofizuddin of Merulia village. A gang of miscreants attacked Nazim and his friend Belal Hossain with sharp weapons and chopped them indiscriminately while they were returning home at about 1am, leaving Nazim dead on the spot and Belal seriously injured. Hearing their screams, local people rescued Belal and took him to Patnitala Upazila Health Complex where doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). His condition is stated to be critical, police and RMCH sources said, according to a news agency.
