Freedom of expression and closure of 'Amar Desh'

Thursday, 3 June 2010

THE government has cancelled the declaration of Amar Desh, a Bangla daily of the country, on June 01, stating that it has no authorised publisher.
We are very sorry to note that some dailies of the country often have their own strong political views and, thus, give priority to their party-related news, overlooking or avoiding their opponents' views. Why is this not a bad practice?
Honesty is the best policy. But, we do not, perhaps, like to practice this. Newspapers are believed or thought to be the mirror of a country. But, regrettably, we do not have the right to express our views fairly and objectively.
But nowadays, we only think of our own interests. How will our uplift come if we neglect our own country and think about our own interests only? Why we cannot or do not always speak the truth? We should not forget that truth always will triumph.
