22 will vie for BAFFA executive posts

The election to Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association or BAFFA's new board of directors for the tenure 2023-2025 will be held on December 14 (Thursday).
BAFFA members will cast their votes at the polling centres to be set up at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka and Hall-24 Convention Centre in Chattogram on the scheduled day.
Voting will start at 09:00am and continue till 04:00pm without any break, insiders told the FE.
Jowher Rizvi, chairman of BAFFA election board, announced the polls schedule in September this year.
Freight forwarding service providers make arrangement of cargo on behalf of the shippers.
In many cases, freight forwarders provide a variety of supply chain services including ocean or air freight transportation.
Established in 2010, the BAFFA is the freight forwarders' national trade body committed to promoting, protecting and safeguarding interests of its members.
Sources said a total of 22 candidates are vying to get positions in the executive committee, who will later select different office-bearers, including president and vice-president. The current board is led by President Kabir Ahmed.
An introductory meeting of all candidates with voters was held by the election board on Saturday.
Among candidates, Managing Director & CEO, 3i LOGISTICS Jahangir Alam Sharker said the BAFFA members are in a festive mood centring the upcoming election.
Another candidate Tarikul Islam Tarek, CEO of Octagon Trade International, is vying for a position under ballot No. eight.
