French star Henry splits with wife

LONDON, Jul 16 (AFP): French striker Thierry Henry has split with his wife of four years, his lawyers said in a statement released late Sunday.
The Barcelona star, 29, who transferred to the club from London side Arsenal last month, had married English model Claire -- also known in the modelling industry as Nicole Merry -- in July 2003, and the pair have a two-year-old daughter, Tea.
"Thierry is extremely saddened by the breakdown of his marriage," the statement from law firm Mishcon de Reya on behalf of Henry read.
