Fresh ammo haul at Satchhari jungles

HABIGANJ, Oct 17 (UNB): Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered 9,500 bullets, 80 magazines, five wireless sets and a radio set during their fresh drive at bordering Satchhari jungles in
Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on Friday.
The recovered ammunition included 8,360 bullets of 7.62MM rifles, 152 bullets of 7.62 303 rifles, 517 bullets of 9MM pistols and 425 bullets of 12.7MM bullets.
Commanding officer of Rab-9 Wing Commander Riad Hasan Rabbani revealed the information while briefing reporters at Satchhari on Friday noon.
Also on Thursday morning, the elite force recovered a big cache of arms and ammunition, including three machine guns, four spare barrels and eight magazines, from the jungles.
Arms and ammunition recovered during the fourth drive had similarity with those of the 10-truck arms haul in Chittagong and the one-truck arms haul in Bogra, Rabbani said.
Rab-9 and Rab intelligence members started their fourth drive in the jungles of the Satchhari reserve forest and its surrounding areas on Wednesday evening.
Earlier, in three drives -- first one on June 3, second one on September 2 and the third one on September 17 -- the crime busters recovered huge arms and ammunitions from the jungles.
The recovered firearms had included over 300 rocket launchers, huge anti-tank explosives, mortar shells, chargers of rocket launchers, nine SMGs, one SNC, one beta gun, one auto rifle, six SLRs, two LMGs, one slipper stereoscope sight and 2,400 bullets.
