Fresh cold wave likely from Monday

A fresh cold wave may sweep through most parts of the country from Monday as Tetulia reported the lowest 9.0 degree Celsius on Friday.
Abul Kalam Mallick, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), said the mild cold wave may sweep mainly Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.
The highest temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chattogram while Dhaka recorded 18.0 degree Celsius, he said.
The BMD's 24-hour bulletin said light rain/drizzle is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy to cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, according to the bulletin.
Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the river basins and its adjoining areas and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country during Saturday midnight to morning, it said. Trough of westerly low lies over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining area, it said, adding that ridge of Sub-continental high extends up to Bihar and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay, extending its trough to North Bay.
Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged and day temperature may fall by (1-2)°C over the country, it added.
