Thursday, 5 June 2014

The government on Thursday pledged afresh to work more expeditiously to reach an agreement on sharing waters of the common rivers, demarcation of land boundary and solve the problems over enclaves with India in the current tenure. During the last five-year tenure of the Awami League-led government failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion over the Teesta water sharing deal and ratification of Land Boundary Agreement (LBA). He, however, said there had been visible achievements in terms of bilateral cooperation with India in the areas of security, electricity import and duty-free access of Bangladeshi commodities in Indian market in the last tenure. On Rohingya issue, the Finance Minister said the government will continue diplomatic efforts to send back Rohingyas to their homeland and stop their further influx, according to a news agency.
