BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said the BNP-led 19-party alliance will wedge a fresh anti-government movement soon. The former prime minister also said that al-Qaeda doesn't exist in Bangladesh, Jahangir Alam Pradhan, general secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), quoted the BNP chief as saying after her meeting with journalist leaders and senior journalists in the city on Tuesday night. The meeting was held at Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office. Journalist leader Prodhan and another senior journalist who were present at the meeting talked to the reporters following the meeting as the BNP didn't brief media about the nearly two-hour-long meeting between its chief and the senior journalists. About the on-going upazila polls, Khaleda Zia was quoted by the journalist leaders as saying that the government wanted to make the local body elections one-sided. However, it (the government) is now upset to see the candidates, backed by the opposition party, vying in the polls,” they quoted Khaleda as saying. After the meeting, Elias Khan, general secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity, quoted Khaleda as saying that the BNP chief will visit Rajbari district on March 1 as part of the anti-government programme. The government will step down in the face of the fresh agitation, he quoted Khaleda as telling the journalist leaders at the meeting, according to private TV channels.
