Fridge sales get boost in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 4 (BSS): Sale of refrigerators has marked a boost in the city as Eid-ul-Azha, the Muslim feast of sacrifice, is approaching fast, said manufacturers and vendors.
Khulna is witnessing a brisk sale of refrigerator in the city markets ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha, said Motiar Rahman, manager of Best Electronics at KDA Avenue in the city.
Manufacturers and importers have already beefed up their number of products, offering instant cash card discount and gifts inside scratch card keeping in mind customers extra demand for refrigerator during the Eid festival.


Motiar Rahman said every day we are selling both homemade and foreign brand electronic goods with various discount offers and reduction in prices.
He also said, "We are selling a good number of LED television, refrigerator and air conditioner as well as home appliances such as pressure cooker, curry cooker, washing machine, blender machine, food processor, induction oven and cloth dryer".
Shirina Akter, manager of LG Butterfly show room at Lower Jessore Road in the city, told the news agency: "Quality and cost-effectiveness are the main attraction of customers at their showroom".
"Most of the customers are showing interest in buying deep-fridge due to three-month zero instalment and six-month replacement warrantee," she said.
Ibrahim Hossain, show room in-charge of Walton at city's Sher-e-Bangla Road area, said they have taken preparations to meet the additional demand for electronic goods of the customers until the final days before the Eid festival.
He said, "Our company has set a target to sell at least 0.20 million fridges across the country. Walton has already released new and innovative models of fridges to attract customers ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha."
Dealers said the demand for refrigerators and freezers generally rise ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, as the people need refrigerators to preserve meat for consumption and distribution among the relatives.
While visiting a number of showrooms of electronic goods in the city's KDA Avenue area today (Saturday), this correspondent found that customers are purchasing fridge of local and foreign brands.
Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman of city's Musolmanpara area expressed his satisfaction after purchasing a foreign brand deep-fridge.
"It was my dream since long that I will buy a foreign brand deep-fridge. It has been possible for me as my son sent money from Malaysia," he added.
Sakhina Begum Mala, an assistant professor of Government City College, said, "I have bought a deep-fridge as I got my bonus and current month salary last week."
