Fruits-laden van snatched injuring van-puller in Azimpur

Armed muggers took away a fruits-laden rickshaw van after injuring the van-puller by firing from the guns in Azimpur in the city on Thursday. The injured is Masud Rana, 30, also owner of the van, on which he sells fruits on streets in different areas, including Azimpur and Lalbagh. Like other days, Rana had gone to Badamtoli by pulling his tricycle van from his Shaheed Nagar residence early in the morning to bring fruits, his wife Tania said. Quoting bullet-hit Rana, she said when her husband reached near Plassey intersection around 5:00am, a gang of 4-5 muggers, carrying firearms, intercepted him and tried to snatch away the fruit-loaded van. As Rana moved to resist the gangsters, they shot at his abdomen and fled the scene along with the fruits-laden tricycle. Rana was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Contacted, Inspector Mozammel Haque of DMCH police camp confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.
