Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan asked on Sunday the law enforcement agencies to perform their duties through team work using their capabilities to fulfil people's expectations, reports UNB.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a function organised to unveil the 'Strategic Plan 2018-2020 of Bangladesh Police' at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the city.
The summary of the next three-year police action plan was presented at the function.
The three-year plan has been prepared on the basis of analysis of the past and current state in the changing society to help detect and prevent crimes as well as maintain public order with the highest standard of professionalism.
Mentioning that the police are tackling new challenges, the home minister said they will be able to fulfil people's expectations. "All will have to work together for this."
Terming the three-year strategic plan a roadmap to Bangladesh police, he said it is the Vision of Police. "We must reach the goals taking necessary initiatives."
Asaduzzaman thanked the police for preparing the strategic plan, hoping that the police force will be more efficient, pro-people and dynamic through proper implementation of the plan in the next three years.
Addressing the function, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque said the Prime Minister has taken many initiatives to enhance the capacity of the police. "The capability of the police has increased greatly, and people are witnessing its reflection," he said.
The top police officer also said the police have showed many successes in combating militants in recent times. "Around 35-40 anti-militant operations have been conducted. Police officials have worked tirelessly to destroy militant hideouts and break down their network across the country," he said.
