Garment owners asked to pay wages, Eid bonus by tomorrow

The government Tuesday asked the garment owners to pay wages and Eid bonus to their workers by tomorrow (Thursday) to avert any unpleasant situation before Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB.
"We want to avoid any sort of unwanted situation before Eid, pay wages and bonus by October 11 as per earlier decision. If you have financial constraint, overcome it anyhow," Labour and Employment Adviser Anwarul Iqbal told the garment factory owners at a meeting at the ministry's conference room in the morning.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez, Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Fazlul Huq and representatives from RAB, NSI, SB and police were present on the occasion.
