Garment worker killed for dowry

SAVAR, Apr 11 (UNB): A garment worker was hacked to death allegedly by her husband for dowry in Dhamrai Upazila early Sunday.
The victim was identified as Shimu Akter (22), wife of Mosharraf Hossain.
Police said, Shimu Akter, daughter of late Shamsul Haque of Kushra village in the upazila was married with Mosharraf Hossain, son of late Kuddus Mia of Unail village in Ashulia thana here seven years back.
Locals said Mosharraf used to torture her for dowry since their marriage.
Being failed to bear inhuman torture Shimu went to her maternal grandmother's house and got a job at Karim Textile Mill at Kalampur in Dhamrai.
When Mosharraf came to know that Shimu secured a job he went to the house Saturday late night and picked up a quarrel for dowry.
At one stage Mosharraf hit her with a sharp weapon at about 3 am, leaving her critically injured.
Hearing her cry for help locals rushed in and admitted her to Dhamrai upazila health complex where she died early in the morning.
Mosharraf went into hiding after the incident.
A case was filed.
