Garment workers block Dhaka-Sylhet highway in N'ganj

NARAYANGANJ, July 7: Garment workers put barricades on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Rupashi in Rupganj Upazila Saturday, demanding their outstanding salaries and overtime bills. Witnesses said the workers of Shikder Apparels blocked the road as its management did not pay the salaries and overtime bills for the last two months, creating a severe traffic jam on the road. During the hour-long blockade, the unruly workers damaged a good number of rickshaws. They removed the blockades as the factory owner assured them of clearing their dues soon. — UNB
