Garment workers block road to get wages

Friday, 27 November 2009

FE Report
Vehicular movement on Dhaka-Tangail Highway remained disrupted for about three hours as thousands of workers of a garment factory blockaded the road at Jamgora in Ashulia over payment of full month's wages just before two days of the Eid.
Nearly 8,000 workers of Envoy Group, owned by President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Abdus Salam Murshedy, took to the street at about 10:00am as the authorities rejected their plea to clear full month's wages.
