Garment workers damage vehicles as bus crushes fellow worker

A group of garment workers went on rampage and damaged over 20 motor vehicles in the city's Mahakhali area Thursday morning following the death of a fellow worker in a road accident.
Several hundred workers staged demonstration at Mahakhali crossing halting traffic movement for about two hours from 8am.
The police said Manjura Begum (26), a garment worker, was crushed under the wheels of a bus when she was crossing road near Mahakhali bus-stand at about 7.45am. She was rushed to a local hospital where attending doctors declared her dead. On hearing the news, several hundred workers of different garment factories of Mahakhali area gathered at the Mahakhali crossing and started demonstration halting the traffic movement.
