Gas crisis hits city for Hatirjheel repair

Some of the areas in the city’s eastern and central part on Thursday experienced severe gas crisis due to pipeline replacement and repairing works in Hatirjheel area. A Titas Gas official said the gas supply was suspended in different areas around the Hatirjheel lake development project from 11 am to 4 pm on Thursday. The supply will remain suspended during the same period on Friday. “We’ve given prior notice to our consumers through newspapers about the gas supply suspension,” Titas Gas public relation official Mohammad Shahjahan said. He said the consumers will get normal supply of gas from Friday evening. Meanwhile, many CNG refueling stations in Tejgaon, Badda, and Rampura areas were shutdown for lack of gas supply. This has led to sufferings for the motor vehicles operators. Many motor vehicle operators had to leave the refueling stations in those areas quite dejected finding no gas. Many household consumers in different areas also could not get adequate gas in their ovens for suspension of gas supply.
