Gas, power price hike on cards

The government is planning to increase the gas and power prices, said State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid in Dhaka on Tuesday. Nasrul Hamid came up with the government plan while addressing a conference of diploma engineers of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd (PGCB) at the auditorium of Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB). He said the decision on power tariff hike will be made within a month while different issues are being discussed to raise the gas price, too. The State Minister said the government is planning to hike the power tariff to an affordable level and then the gas price will be raised, according to a news agency.
