COLOMBO, Aug 2 (UNB): Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is the luckiest South Asian leader who broke his own record and created a new one by attending all the SAARC summits since its inception in 1985.
He attended the first SAARC Summit in Dhaka on December 8, 1985 as the Head of State of the Indian Ocean archipelago.
Today he attended the 15th SAARC summit in Colombo, when none of the other founder-leaders was present-they are either out of power or long dead.
