Gazipur AL celebrates Putul\\\'s WHO award win

The Gazipur district unit of Awami League has brought out a colourful procession in Tongi town as celebration for Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, winning the World Health Organisation (WHO) award in recognition to her contribution to women, children and autism sector. Putul, chief of the new national advisory committee on autism of WHO, has received the award in recognition to her ‘glorious and outstanding’ contributions in creating mass awareness about autism in Bangladesh and in South Asia region. The procession was led by Parliamentary Standing Committee chairman on Youth and Sports Ministry Zahid Ahsan Russel. Leaders and workers of Awami League, Jubo League, Awami Mohila League, Jubo Mohila League, Sramik League, Swechchhasebok League, Muktijoddha League, Bangladesh Chhatra League and Krisak League joined the colourful procession. The procession started from Tongi Natun Bazar and ended at Cheragali Market. Later leaders of AL and its associate organisations addressed a street rally. On September 10, Putul received the award from Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, the WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia, according to a news agency.
