Gazipur city mayor put on one-day remand

GAZIPUR, Apr 6 (UNB):  A court placed on Monday Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser MA Mannan on a one-day remand in an arson case filed with Kaliakoir thana.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Rehana Akter passed the order when police produced Mannan before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.
On February 11, detectives picked MA Mannan up from his DOHS residence in the Baridhara of the capital.
Three cases were filed against mayor Mannan with Joydevpur, Kaliakoir and Sreepur thanas on various charges.
Besides, he secured bail in two cases.
Earlier, on February 12, the court put the GCC mayor on a two-day remand in an arson case filed with Joydevpur thana.
