Gazipur RMG factory fined Tk 1m

The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined the authorities of a readymade garment (RMG) factory Tk 1 million (10 lakh) for polluting the environment in Keoa area in Sreepur Upazila. A team of DoE led by Md Alamgir, director (Monitoring & Enforcement) of its Dhaka headquarters, visited Fakhruddin Textile Mills Ltd in Keoa on Saturday and fined the authorities of the garment factory following a hearing on Sunday. During the hearing, the authorities of the RMG unit sought an apology and pledged a commitment to take preventive measures in this regard, according to a news agency.
