A woman and her two children have died in Gazipur after she grabbed them and leapt in front of a train in an apparent suicide, according to police, reports bdnews24.com.
The incident occurred around 11am on Monday at a railway crossing in the Nayanepara area of Ward No. 41, said Pubail Police Station chief (OC) Atikul Islam.
The woman was identified as 25-year-old Hafeza Khatun Mala from Gazipur's Kaliganj Upazila. The two children were her 8-year-old daughter Tabassum and 5-year-old son Maruf.
The identity of the woman's husband was not immediately known, although police said her in-laws' home was in the Aturi area under Joydebpur Police Station.
Local residents said the incident occurred on a section of railway track east of the Pubail crossing. Police later recovered the bodies from the site.
Citing Mala's family members, Pubail Railway Station Master Md Musa said she had been living with her children at her in-laws' house in Aturi and that there had reportedly been a domestic dispute earlier in the day.
"She left home in the morning after dressing her daughter in her school uniform. She later went with her children onto the tracks as a Brahmanbaria-bound Titas commuter train was passing. All three died at the scene."
