GCC mayor, 21 others get HC bail

The High Court on Thursday granted ad interim bail for 4 weeks to Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisor MA Mannan and 21 other leaders and activists of the party in a vandalism case. An HC bench comprising Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Haque and Justice Akram Hossain Chowdhury passed the order following bail petitions. The others who secured bail include five pro-BNP GCC councillors, Gazipur district unit BNP adviser Advocate Shahiduzzaman and district BNP vice-president Ahmed Ali Rushdi. The case was filed against them following a clash between BNP activists and police in Gazipur on Sunday, according to a news agency.
