Adviser for Industries, Textiles and Jute, Social Welfare, and Women and Children Geeti Ara Safiya Chowdhury Friday urged the persons concerned to contain standard and diversity of Bangladeshi textiles and garment products for strong existence in the global markets, reports BSS.
She said the engineers and professionals of the industries have to conduct more research work for this reason.
The adviser was addressing a seminar on garment industries organised by the College of Textile Technology at Tejgaon in the city.
Two keynote papers on 'Textile and Apparel Sector: Necessary Steps for Global Competence' and 'Supercritical Fluid Dyeing: A Green Technology' were presented in the seminar.
Under the present world trade system, Geeti Ara said the textiles sector is quota free which brought immense opportunities for Bangladesh side by side with strong competence. "We need an appropriate and long-term plan for its proper utilization," she added.
Economist Atiur Rahman and Chairman of the Bangladesh Board of Technical Education Nitai Chandra Sutradhar also spoke on the occasion.
