German new car sales rise in July

New car registrations in Germany, a key measure of demand in one of the most important sectors of Europe's top economy, rose strongly in July. A total of 270,249 new cars were registered last month, an increase of 6.8 per cent compared with the figures for the same month in 2013, according to data compiled by the federal automobile agency, KBA. In May, new registrations had fallen by 1.9 per cent. Taking the seven months to July as a whole, new registrations rose by 3.0 per cent to 1.808 million units, KBA calculated, according to AFP.
