German parliamentary body team due today

A 7-member delegation of the German Parliamentary Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development will arrive in Dhaka today (Saturday) to assess the condition in the country's ready-made garment (RMG) sector.
Led by Ms Dagmar Woehrl, who is the chair of the committee, the delegation is scheduled to visit different garment factories at Savar to get information about the initiatives taken so far for improvement of working condition and safety standards in the sector.  
The delegation will also travel to Savar to meet survivors of the collapsed Rana Plaza building at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), which receives funding from German Development Cooperation.
The team will stay in the country until 30 April 2014.  During its stay, the team members will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker of parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed and political leaders.
The German delegation will visit two projects that deal with street children and victims of acid attacks to demonstrate its solidarity with these vulnerable groups in need of support.
On 29 April, the team will brief the media on the outcome of the visit at a press conference.
The delegation includes six other MPs from the parliamentary committee. They are Juergen Klimke, Frank Heinrich, Stefan Rebmann, Gabi Weber, Niema Movassat and Uwe Kekeritz.
