The three-day German Trade Show - 2008 will kick off Thursday at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in the city.
The Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) is organising the first ever trade show to enhance trade and business ties between the two countries.
Saiful Islam, president of BGCCI, disclosed this at a press conference held at a city hotel Sunday.
"The fair will bring manufacturers, traders, institutions, exporters, investors and service providers together to forge a better business relation between Bangladesh and German," said Saiful.
Commerce Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman is expected to inaugurate the fair.
German Ambassador in Dhaka Frank Meyke, executive chairman of Board of Investment (BoI) Kamaluddin Ahmed and FBCCI President Annisul Huq are also likely to attend the inaugural programme as special guests.
Saiful Islam also said the fair might encourage German companies to outsource production of intermediate products to Bangladesh.
Around 65 exhibitors are expected to display their products and services at the fair. They will also display German technology at the fair as those have earned an excellent reputation in Bangladesh, BGCCI leaders said at the press conference.
The BGCCI will also organise a number of seminars on shipbuilding, leather, financial services and other potential sectors.
However, the show will be open for trade and visitors everyday from 10 am to 8:00 pm.
BGCCI leaders including its vice president Sadaquat Hossain, members Feroze Ahmed, Syed Golam Mowla and Nasir Choudhury were also present at the press conference.
