Germany keen to modernise BD mills

Newly appointed German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Thomas Prinz Tuesday expressed his government's interest to increase productivity through modernisation of mills and factories of Bangladesh, reports BSS.
He expressed this interest when he paid a courtesy call on foreign minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali at the latter's office in the city.
At the meeting, Ali put emphasis on increasing the volume of bilateral trade with Germany by expanding the relations in this sector.
"Germany is the second largest destination of Bangladeshi export items and the volume of bilateral trade with Germany could be enhanced further by expanding the relations in this sector," he said.
 Mr Ali also stressed the need for boosting cooperation between Dhaka and Berlin in the fields of culture and education.In response, the German envoy assured him of extending all kinds of necessary cooperation.
Dr Prinz said he would work on further expanding the existing economic relations between the two countries.
The foreign minister welcomed the envoy to Bangladesh and hoped that the bilateral and trade ties between Bangladesh and Germany would be further strengthened during his tenure.
He also assured the German ambassador of extending all possible support from his ministry and wished his success and good health.
