Get ready to break open jails: BNP to followers

Monday, 28 April 2014

BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas has asked his party men to get ready for breaking open the country’s jails to free their arrested leaders. “There’s no point of shouting slogans …we must prepare for unlocking the jails to free our leaders,” he told a protest meeting in the city. Mirza Abbas said: “Today’s programme is not only a protest rally. It’s rather part of our preparation for a movement. The entire country has been made a jail. We’ve to free the whole nation from this prison through a strong movement.” The Dhaka south unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal arranged the programme on Sunday afternoon, protesting the indictment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman. Addressing the meeting, BNP leaders accused the government of having failed to realise Bangladesh’s due share of water of the Teesta River from Bangladesh due to its submissive policy, according to a news agency.
