Getting drunk and killing people

We were simply shocked to read about two innocent people getting killed when a son of an MP opened fire indiscriminately. The killer was drunk and two poor men were the victims without any fault of theirs. Power itself is an addiction and when someone powerful is under the influence of drug or liquor anything can happen. The persons involved lose all control of themselves and may cause havoc. This is what happened when son of Pinu Khan, MP shot two innocent people dead. The families of the victims have appealed for justice and nobody knows if they will get it. The victims are non-entities while the offender being the son of an MP is powerful.
If the authorities concerned do not take appropriate action against such offenders, we shall see many more incidents like this in the coming days. The media have played a commendable role in unmasking the incident and we hope it will follow up and help ensure justice for the unfortunate families of the victims. At the same time, we hope the law enforcing agencies that apprehended and got hold of the offender, will play their due role and help administer justice. The ruling party should also grab this opportunity and send a strong message to its members so that nobody ever attempted to abuse power.
