Ghulam Azam dead

War crimes convict Ghulam Azam died on Thursday night at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), attending doctors said. BSMMU director Brigadier General Abdul Majid Bhuiyan said Ghulam Azam, 92, was brought from his prison cell to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and was put on a life support at 9:00pm last night. But his condition steadily deteriorated. He died around 10:10pm, he said. Azam was sentenced to 90 years rigorous imprisonment by the International War Crimes’ Tribunal (ICT)-1 for wartime offences, according to a news agency.
