Girl gang-raped in Brahmanbaria

BRAHMANBARIA, July 9 (UNB): A young girl was gang -raped by four men at Sonarbadi in Akhaura upazila of the district on Wednesday evening.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a CNG-run auto rickshaw driver named Robin, 20, son of Mohammad Ali of Hirapur village in the upazila in connection with the incident and handed him over to police.
Quoting the victim, police said Robin tactically took the girl to bordering Umedpur village while she was going to the house of her brother's in-laws at Boutala in Akhaura upazila from Shahilpur in Sadar upazila in the evening.
Jamal Miah, 23, Iamin Miah, 18, Junayed, 19, and a 50-year-old unidentified man then took the girl to a jungle at Sonarbadi and raped her in turns.
Hearing screams of the victim, BGB members from the Akhaura immigration check post rushed in and rescued her.
However, the rapists managed to flee the scene.
Later, BGB members arrested Robin with the help of locals.
On Thursday morning, the girl filed a case with Akhaura Police Station against seven people.
Officer-in-charge of Akhaura Police Station Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the incident, saying the victim was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for medical test.
