Girl goes missing while bathing in Kushtia river

A teenage girl went missing while taking bath in the Garai River in Kushtia town on Thursday. The victim was identified as Samia, 23, a class VI student of Chand Sultana Girls’ School and daughter of Chand Ali of Char Amlapara of the district town. Witnesses said Samia along with her sister and two others went to take bath in the river around 7:00 pm. At one stage, all of them were washed away by the strong current of the river. However, locals managed to rescue three of them while Samia remained untraced. Abdul Khalek, officer-in-charge of Kushita Model Police Station, said police were trying to rescue the girl either alive or dead, according to UNB.
