Girl kills self jumping under train

A schoolgirl reportedly committed suicide by jumping under the wheels of a running train in Kalihati upazila in Tangail district on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Ankhi Akter, 14, student of class IX and daughter of Abdul Latif, a  resident of Parkhi village in the same upazila. Jahirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station, the incident took place at Rajabari level crossing. He said Ankhi jumped before a train heading for the northern region from Dhaka city and died on the spot. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital for autopsy. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, according to UNB.
