GOALUNDO, Oct 10 (UNB): Police rescued a girl, who was brought here from Cox's Bazar in the name of providing job, from Daulatdia brothel and arrested a woman Wednesday night.
Goalundo ghat (river terminal) police said Selima Begum, resident of Piamkali village in Cox's Bazar, first brought the girl aged about 20 of the same area to Dhaka in the name of giving her a job in a garments factory a month back.
Selima later introduced the girl to a man, Bula, who tactfully handed her over to Rozy, a house owner in the Daulatdia red-light area in the evening of October 2.
Sensing danger, the victim through local people sought the assistance of local police for her rescue from the brothel.
On information, a team of police, led by Officer-in-Charge Motiur Rahman, raided the brothel and rescued the girl at midnight. They also arrested Rozy.
The rescued girl was sent to safe custody.
