Give allowances for victims of enforced disappearances

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday requested providing state allowances to the families of those persons who became victims of enforced disappearances during the Awami League government.
He made the appeal at an event marking the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances in front of the party's central office at Naya Paltan in the capital.
Expressing satisfaction in the Awami League regime's ouster, the BNP leader said, "The interim government has signed the instrument of accession to the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances (on Thursday)," he said.
He demanded an investigation into the incidents of enforced disappearances during the Awami League government by the United Nations (UN).
"Conspiracy is still ongoing to foil the much earned freedom loving people's victory. So, BNP leaders and activists must remain in the field. We demand trial of the law enforcing agencies members who were involved with enforced disappearances," he stated.
Standing committee member of BNP Salahuddin Ahmed said that he was picked up blind folded by persons who claimed themselves as members of law enforcing agencies on March 10, 2015 at 9:30 pm from the capital.
He said that he was kept at a room without light. He demanded investigations into the enforced disappearances.
BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury demanded trial of Sheikh Hasina as she was the main planner.
Member of BNP chairperson's advisory council also widow of Elias Ali ( BNP leader, a victim of enforced disappearances) demanded punishment to those involved with enforced disappearances.
Coordinator of Mayer Dak Sanjida Islam Tuli said that family member's of the victims of the enforced disappearances were tortured by the fascist Sheikh Hasina government.
