Financial assistance from the affluent only can help restore the eyesight of a nine-month old son of a blind couple who are afraid the loss may result due to their monetary constraints. Disabled mother of the infant, Mansura Yasmin, who lost her visual power due to typhoid fever at the age of one and half year, has also been suffering from liver disease since 2006 while studying at the University of Dhaka. Her infant boy is suffering from cornea-related complications specialist diagnosed. An operation costing about Tk 90,000 can protect the eyes of the minor boy. Mrs Yasmin, now doing M Phil at the university under the session of 2010-11, had undergone treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital where liver specialist suggested for better treatment. But that would cost nearly Tk 1.0 million. The educated pair who have been fighting for survival made the public appeal to avail of the treatment facilities.
