Glitch at grid substation leads to blackout in city

A technical glitch in the 132 KV grid substation at Ulan led to a power outage in a number of areas of the city on Thursday. Officials at both Power Development Board (PDB) and Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) informed UNB that the breaker of the substation went out of order at about 3:45 pm. As a result, power transmission and distribution from the Dhanmondi substation was shut down, plunging several areas into darkness. The main affected areas include Dhanmondi, Moghbazar, Malibagh, Khilgaon and Kalabagan.
