Saturday, 29 November 2014

Leaders and workers of the ruling Awami League (AL) and other socio-cultural-professional bodies paid glowing tributes Friday to Mohammad Hanif, former president of Dhaka City AL and first elected mayor of Dhaka, in observance of his 8th death anniversary, reports BSS.
On this day in 2006, Mohammad Hanif, a personal aide and political disciple of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, breathed his last following serious splinter injuries he had suffered in the August 21 grenade attack at the public rally of AL president Sheikh Hasina in front of party office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city in 2004.
In the morning, leaders of Dhaka City AL placed wreaths at the grave of Mohammad Hanif at Azimpur graveyard paying deep homage to the late leader of the party.
