GMG adds 3rd Boeing 767 in its fleet

Bangladesh largest private carrier GMG Airlines has inducted another Boeing 767 to its fleet to launch daily flight on Dhaka-Damam- Dhaka route,Dhaka-Dubai-Dhaka route and Dhaka-Doha- Dhaka route. With this new addition GMG will have three Boeing 767.The new plane will have 273 seats. In this regard, GMG had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) in Singapore with AWAS, a leading aircraft leasing company to take lease of third Boeing 767, scheduled to be arrived in July. Presently, the GMG fleet consists of eight planes including two Boeing 767 with the addition of the new aircraft GMG fleet size would be nine. Mr. Shahab Sattar, Managing Director of GMG Airlines said, "Adding the new plane will help GMG to serve growing number of passengers on Dhaka-Damam and Dhaka- Doha routes. This is in line with our stated business plan." The company plans for fleet expansion to introduce more routes to become most preferred airline in the region. GMG Airlines, owned by the industrial conglomerate Beximco, started operations on April 6, 1998. It began with domestic services and launched international flights in September 2004, with flights between Chittagong and Kolkata. With 9 international and 5 domestic destinations, GMG Airlines has got a total number of more than 230 flights per week. GMG's international route consists of Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Karachi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Damam, Doha,Jeddah and Riyadh. In Domestic operation it serves Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox's Bazaar, Sylhet and Jessore.
