Godfathers in AL, not in JP: Ershad

Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad has urged the people to vote for his party once instead of the ruling Awami League and the BNP ‘to bring peace’ to the country. He gave this call while addressing a programme in Lakshmipur town. Ershad, also the special envoy of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said: ‘Position of the Awami League is not good. There are godfathers in the party. We don’t believe in godfather. We are the only party which doesn’t believe in godfathers. We believe in peace.’ The former president said that Jatiya Party does not believe in fundamentalism. He said the JP would form government in future and urged the people of Lakshmipur district to be with the party, according toa news agency.
