Godown shortage may hamper Aman procurement in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Nov 17: With the advent of Aman procurement season, there are acute shortage of space in the government godowns in the district due to non-disbursement of previously procured rice and paddy.
One official of the district Controller of Food office said there are six local supply depots in six upazilas of the district but they are all overloaded with rice and wheat procured during the Boro season.
Meanwhile, harvesting of Aman paddy is going on in full swing across the district. But procurement date of Aman rice is yet to be announced by the government.
However, with the starting of harvesting, price of paddy has already come down to 450 taka per maund in the district.
