Gold bars weighing 1kg seized in Chandpur

A railway passenger has been arrested in Chandpur district with ten gold bars from a train coming from Chittagong, said police. Mridul Chandra Dhar, 40, was detained while travelling on the Meghna Express train late on Saturday, said Chandpur Railway Police OC Osman Gani Patthan. “Mridul (Dhar) hails from Chittagong’s Patiya upazila. He came to Chandpur with the gold bars by train and was supposed to board a launch for Dhaka,” he said. Police searched passengers of the train following a tip-off and the gold bars were found in Dhar’s luggage, added the railway police officer, according to bdnews24.com.
